That gap is what we set out to close. Starseer is the observability layer built specifically for AI systems in production. Not a monitoring dashboard bolted onto the side — a purpose-built infrastructure layer that understands the semantics of AI behavior, not just the mechanics of server health.
We work with engineering teams who have already deployed AI into critical workflows and understand the difference between a model that technically runs and a model that actually works. They need tools that can tell those two things apart.
Starseer was founded in 2022 by Tim Schulz, who spent the previous decade building reliability tooling for autonomous systems at a Boston-area engineering company. The problem he kept running into: AI components in production had no equivalent of APM, no circuit breakers, no semantic health checks. When they failed, they failed quietly.
Tim assembled a team of engineers who had faced the same problem from different angles — ML platform engineers, security researchers, and reliability engineers who had all spent time cleaning up after AI systems that misbehaved in ways traditional monitoring couldn't catch.
The company is venture-backed and headquartered at 100 Summer Street in Boston. Gula Tech Adventures participated in the seed round. The team has stayed deliberately small and technical — every engineer at Starseer has shipped production AI systems.
Observability is not a feature — it's a stance. We build tools that make AI behavior legible, and we operate Starseer the same way we ask our customers to operate their AI: with full visibility into what's happening and why.
We don't build tools that work in demos and struggle in production. Every component of the Starseer platform is tested against real-world traffic volumes, real-world failure modes, and real-world regulatory requirements.
Trace data can be sensitive. We treat it that way. Encryption at rest and in transit, granular access controls, and a data retention policy you control — these aren't options you have to turn on. They're on by default.
